Er ist Rapper mit zwei Alben, knapp 16.700 monatlichen Spotify-H\u00f6reri:nnen, einem Auftritt beim splash!-Musikfestival 2023 und Migrationsgeschichte. Mit Ach_dasta! spricht er \u00fcber Dinos, Schlafprobleme und Gewalt.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ilhan setzt frischen Kaffee auf. Er macht einen Schwamm nass und wischt \u00fcber den Tisch, grinst mich aus seinen braunen Augen an und lacht laut. \u201eIch bin T\u00fcrke, ich muss putzen\u201c, sagt der 28-J\u00e4hrige in einem entschuldigenden Tonfall. Er tr\u00e4gt Schwarz: T- Shirt, Jogger und zottelige Locken, einen dichten Bart. Er dreht sich eine Zigarette, schaut beim Erz\u00e4hlen vertr\u00e4umt aus dem Fenster. Die Sonne scheint auf die Holzt\u00fcr hinter ihm. Geboren im Berliner Bezirk Neuk\u00f6lln, zur\u00fcck in die T\u00fcrkei, dann wieder Neuk\u00f6lln. Von Hochhaus zu Hochhaus, ins Kinderheim, als er zw\u00f6lf Jahre alt war und seine Mutter abgeschoben wurde, und dann f\u00fcr die Liebe nach Hessen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Darmstadt, wo er seit sieben Monaten lebt, findet er s\u00fc\u00df, er mag, dass es kleiner ist als Berlin. Nach seinem Abitur hat er ein Techniksoziologiestudium begonnen, nach drei Semestern abgebrochen und war dann fast ein Jahrzehnt als Sozialarbeiter mit Jugendlichen besch\u00e4ftigt. Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit: Schreiben und Musik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Geschichten statt Notizen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Begonnen hat er damit durch Zufall. Er schaut durch mich hindurch, als h\u00e4tte er den Blick auf eine ferne Erinnerung gerichtet, die Augen gl\u00e4nzen im Sonnenlicht. Nach der Trennung seiner Eltern verlor Ilhans Familie, fortan bestehend aus zwei j\u00fcngeren Schwestern, und seiner Mutter und ihm, die Wohnung &#8211; und er damit seine geliebten B\u00fccher. \u201eIch habe sehr viele Sachb\u00fccher gelesen, vor allem \u00fcber den Weltraum und Dinosaurier\u201c, erz\u00e4hlt er. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Er begann zu malen &#8211; aber die Lehrkr\u00e4fte nahmen ihm seine Bilder ab. \u201eDeshalb habe ich angefangen, Geschichten zu schreiben. Das sah dann immer so aus, als w\u00fcrde ich mir Notizen machen\u201c, berichtet er mit einem L\u00e4cheln auf den Lippen. Er wirkt auf einmal sehr jung und weniger ersch\u00f6pft. Fast ein bisschen stolz auf seine fr\u00fchere Taktik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pluspunkte bei Allah<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als seine Mutter ihm damals erz\u00e4hlte, es sei eine Art islamische Tradition, Gedichte zu schreiben, fand Ilhan seine Liebe f\u00fcr Poesie. \u201eIch dachte mir, wie cool, ich kann einfach schreiben und dabei Pluspunkte bei Allah sammeln\u201c, verr\u00e4t er und lacht. Die Verbindung von Schreiben und Musik kam sp\u00e4ter. Nicht ganz unbedeutend waren f\u00fcr Ilhan hier Michael Jackson, Disstracks von Kool Savas und Eko Fresh und die damalige Rap-Legende Bushido. Er begann, CDs zu brennen und beim Schreiben Musik zu h\u00f6ren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Irgendwann versuchte er, inspiriert durch Poetry Slam, seine Texte auf Instrumentals von Liedern zu schreiben, ohne auf den Gesang zu achten. \u201eDas war ehrlich bisschen Kopffick!\u201c, sagt er lachend, \u201ees gab ja keine Instrumentals, deshalb musste ich die Lyrics w\u00e4hrend dem Schreiben ausblenden.\u201c Dass aus Instrumentals irgendwann Songs und aus Songs ganze Alben entstehen w\u00fcrden, hatte Ilhan nicht kommen sehen. Genau wie seinen Auftritt auf dem splash!-Festival &#8211; mit zwei Alben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demokratisch aufs splash! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das splash! ist ein Hip-Hop-Festival, das j\u00e4hrlich 20.000 bis 25.000 Besucher:innen nach Gr\u00e4fenhainichen, einen Ort in der N\u00e4he von Magdeburg, lockt. Ilhan lacht, als er daran zur\u00fcckdenkt. Ein Bekannter, der dort arbeitete, hatte ihn als Act vorgeschlagen. \u201eDann wurde meine Musik angeh\u00f6rt und f\u00fcr mich gevotet\u201c, berichtet Ilhan beinahe ungl\u00e4ubig, \u201eich wurde einfach demokratisch aufs splash! gew\u00e4hlt.\u201c Er strahlt, als er sich zur\u00fcckerinnert an die kleine Strandb\u00fchne. Scheint kaum fassen zu k\u00f6nnen, was er diesen Sommer erlebt hat. Knapp 500 Zuschauer:innen sollen zeitweise vor seiner B\u00fchne gestanden haben, sagt der Rapper ger\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00fcr Musik hat er heute trotzdem keinen Kopf mehr, sagt, es sei wenig Platz f\u00fcr Kreativit\u00e4t da, weil er mit dem Schreiben vor allem hohe Kosten assoziiere: Produktion, Musikvideo, Vermarktung. Ilhan spielt an einem roten Feuerzeug herum, lehnt sich auf dem Stuhl zur\u00fcck. \u201eWir sagen jetzt Migrant statt Kanake\u201c, er schaut aus dem Fenster. \u201eEs \u00e4ndern sich nur Worte, aber nicht Weltbilder, da f\u00fchlt man sich doch verarscht.\u201c <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Der Blick zur\u00fcck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Er spricht \u00fcber seine kurze, aber pr\u00e4gende Kindheit. Von Polizeiautos, Gewalt und der st\u00e4ndigen Geldnot. \u00dcber das Hin und Her: \u00c4ltere beeindrucken und J\u00fcngere unterdr\u00fccken. Klauen, Schl\u00e4gereien und diese unglaubliche Wut als Kind und Jugendlicher. Ilhan z\u00fcndet sich noch eine Zigarette an. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201eIch habe viel gek\u00e4mpft mit Umst\u00e4nden, mental, aber auch k\u00f6rperlich\u201c, gibt er zu, und pl\u00f6tzlich sieht er nicht mehr so sorglos aus, sondern sehr m\u00fcde. Er wirkt <em>wirklich <\/em>ersch\u00f6pft. Nach der Abschiebung seiner Mutter musste Ilhan der Erwachsene sein. Heute ist er fast ein bisschen \u00fcberfordert damit, sich um niemanden mehr k\u00fcmmern zu m\u00fcssen, sagt er.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201eIch w\u00e4re jetzt gerne an einem stabileren Ort\u201c, gesteht er, \u201eich sehne mich einfach nach Ruhe.\u201c Und ich verstehe ihn. Wir schweigen. Ilhan dr\u00fcckt seine Zigarette aus. \u201eAber ich bin zu hasserf\u00fcllt, um aufzugeben\u201c, f\u00fcgt er hinzu. Heute ist seine Wut nicht mehr explosiv und destruktiv. Er will sie weiter nutzen, um wieder zu schreiben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Der Blick nach vorn<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Und f\u00fcr die Zukunft? The song lasts one minute and 14 seconds, in which he raps about &#8222;blond devils&#8220; and the murder of Oury Jalloh. The asylum seeker from Africa was found burned to death in a prison cell in 2005. To this day, relatives are fighting for a &#8222;comprehensible clarification of the circumstances of death&#8220; and most recently went before the European Court of Justice in July 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most memorable lines from <em>Al-Azif<\/em>:<br>&#8222;We will never be part of it if they don&#8217;t want us to be<br>We&#8217;ll poison your children with pushing drugs<br>Because we&#8217;re just good enough to clean the toilets&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ilhan says Al-Azif is his &#8222;showcase song&#8220; and the &#8222;outline&#8220; of his music. He rolls a cigarette, looks dreamily out the window as he talks. The sun shines on the wooden door behind him. Born in the Berlin district of Neuk\u00f6lln, back to Turkey, then Neuk\u00f6lln again. From high-rise to high-rise, to a children&#8217;s home when he was twelve and his mother was deported, and then to Hesse for love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He thinks Darmstadt, where he has been living for seven months, is sweet; he likes that it is smaller than Berlin. After graduating from high school, he began studying sociology of technology, dropped out after three semesters, and then spent almost a decade working with young people as a social worker. The focus of his work: writing and music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stories instead of notes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He started it by coincidence. He looks through me as if he had his gaze fixed on a distant memory, his eyes gleaming in the sunlight. After his parents separated, Ilhan&#8217;s family, henceforth consisting of two younger sisters, and his mother and him, lost their home &#8211; and he lost his beloved books with it. &#8222;I read a lot of nonfiction, especially about space and dinosaurs,&#8220; he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He began to paint &#8211; but the teachers took away his paintings. &#8222;So I started writing stories. It always looked like I was taking notes,&#8220; he reports with a smile on his lips. He suddenly seems very young and less exhausted. Almost a little proud of his former tactic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Earning bonus points for Allah<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back then, when his mother told him it was a kind of Islamic tradition to write poetry, Ilhan found his love for poetry. &#8222;I thought to myself, how cool, I can just write and earn plus points with Allah,&#8220; he reveals, laughing. The connection between writing and music came later. Not entirely insignificant for Ilhan here were Michael Jackson, disc tracks by Kool Savas and Eko Fresh, and the rap legend of the time, Bushido. He started burning CDs and listening to music while writing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At one point, inspired by poetry slams, he tried writing his lyrics on instrumentals of songs without paying attention to the vocals. &#8222;That was honestly a bit of a head-fuck!&#8220; he says with a laugh, &#8222;there were no instrumentals, so I had to block out the lyrics while writing.&#8220; Ilhan didn&#8217;t see coming that instrumentals would eventually turn into songs and songs into entire albums. Just like his appearance at the splash! festival &#8211; with two albums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Democratically to the splash!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The splash! is a hip-hop festival that attracts 20,000 to 25,000 visitors a year to Gr\u00e4fenhainichen, a town near Magdeburg. Ilhan laughs when he thinks back on it. An acquaintance who worked there had suggested him as an act. &#8222;Then they listened to my music and voted for me,&#8220; Ilhan reports almost incredulously, &#8222;I was just democratically elected to splash!&#8220; He beams as he recalls the small beach stage. Seems he can hardly believe what he has experienced this summer. Almost 500 spectators are said to have stood in front of his stage at times, says the rapper, moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, he has no head for music today, says there is little room for creativity, because he associates high costs with writing: production, music video, marketing. Ilhan is plagued by existential fears and a broken sleep rhythm because he works night shifts at the gas station to pay his rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He processes what he experiences in <em>smoke<\/em>:<br>&#8222;I know very few people without existential fear<br>My youth is fed up, enough is enough, ey [\u2026]<br>We feel betrayed, every thought makes us sick&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I ask him about the lyrics, he nods. &#8222;We are also deceived,&#8220; he says, and talks about growing up in Neuk\u00f6lln, where people have been demonstrating &#8222;for the same things&#8220; for 15 to 20 years. Ilhan plays around with a red lighter, leaning back in his chair. &#8222;We say migrant now instead of Kanake,&#8220; he looks out the window. &#8222;It&#8217;s only words that change, but not worldviews, so you feel like you&#8217;ve been had.&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Looking back<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He talks about his short but formative childhood. About police cars, violence and the constant need for money. About the back and forth: impressing older and oppressing younger. Stealing, fights and this unbelievable rage as a child and teenager. Ilhan lights another cigarette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8222;I&#8217;ve struggled a lot with circumstances, mentally, but also physically,&#8220; he admits, and suddenly he no longer looks so carefree, but very tired. He looks really exhausted. After his mother was deported, Ilhan had to be the adult. Today, he&#8217;s almost a little overwhelmed by not having to take care of anyone anymore, he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8222;I would like to be in a more stable place right now,&#8220; he confesses, &#8222;I just long for peace.&#8220; And I understand him. We fall silent. Ilhan stubs out his cigarette. &#8222;But I&#8217;m too hateful to give up,&#8220; he adds. Today, his anger is no longer explosive and destructive.
