Jean-Paul Sartre verstand unter \u201eH\u00f6lle\u201c jedoch \u201edie Anderen\u201c. Viele glauben an ein Leben nach dem Tod, an ein Wiedertreffen mit geliebten Menschen oder an ewige Qualen in der H\u00f6lle. Andere glauben an eine Wiedergeburt und wieder andere daran, dass danach einfach nur das gro\u00dfe Nichts herrscht. Dass man jedoch in einem Hotelzimmer endet, ist bei allen vagen Vorstellungen dennoch eine der kurioseren. F\u00fcr Jean-Paul Sartre wurde dieser Ort zum zentralen Schauplatz des St\u00fccks \u201eGeschlossene Gesellschaft\u201c. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Die T\u00fcren des H\u00f6rsaals an der TU Darmstadt \u00f6ffnen sich. Doch in den Warteraum davor tritt kein Professor, wie es sonst in diesen R\u00e4umlichkeiten \u00fcblich ist, sondern eine in eine purpurrote Pagenuniform gekleidete Person. \u201eHier entlang, meine Herrschaften\u201c, raunt der Verkleidete dem wartenden Publikum zu, \u201ees geht bald los.\u201c Mit diesen Worten begeben sich die Besucher:innen in den Wilhelm-K\u00f6hler-Saal der TU, welcher f\u00fcr diesen Abend zur \u201eH\u00f6lle\u201c umfunktioniert wurde. Wer dabei an Teufel, Flammen und Folterqualen denkt, liegt falsch. Lediglich drei Couches, eine Rezeptionsklingel und eine Bronzestatue erwarten das Publikum vor dem wei\u00dfem Theatervorhang auf der B\u00fchne. Und die drei Protagonist:innen, die in dem St\u00fcck ihr Leben nach dem Tod in diesem \u201eH\u00f6llenhotel\u201c fristen m\u00fcssen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n H\u00f6lle ohne Folterknecht<\/strong> Der Mann hinter den Zeilen<\/strong> Noch immer aktuell<\/strong> Die aktuelle Auff\u00fchrung der \u201eGeschlossenen Gesellschaft\u201c entspringt dem TUD Schauspielstudio, einem gemeinn\u00fctzigen Theaterverein und der Hochschulgruppe der TU Darmstadt. Dieses Mal f\u00fchrte die Gruppe der vier Darstellenden Clara Brossmann, Constantin Sporleder, Josephine Molis und Nicolas Wiefelsp\u00fctz Regie, doch auch im Hintergrund arbeiteten viele Leute daran, dass das St\u00fcck umgesetzt werden konnte. Many believe in life after death, in a reunion with loved ones or in eternal torment in hell. Others believe in reincarnation and still others believe that afterwards there is simply nothingness. However, despite all the vague ideas, ending up in a hotel room is one of the more curious ones. Anyone thinking of devils, flames and torture is wrong. Only three couches, a reception bell and a bronze statue await the audience in front of the white theater curtain on stage. And the three protagonists who have to live out their afterlife in this „hell hotel“ in the play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hell without a torturer<\/strong> The man behind the lines<\/strong> Still relevant<\/strong> The current performance of „No Exit“ is the brainchild of the TUD Schauspielstudio, a non-profit theater association and university group at TU Darmstadt. This time, the group of four performers Clara Brossmann, Constantin Sporleder, Josephine Molis and Nicolas Wiefelsp\u00fctz directed the play, but many people also worked in the background to ensure that the play could be realized. Einen nach dem anderen bringt der Page die drei auf die B\u00fchne: Zuerst Garcin, dann die beiden Frauen In\u00e9s und Estelle. \u201eUns hat vor allem die Ausgangssituation begeistert\u201c, meint Constantin Sporleder, der sowohl als Regisseur als auch in Figur des Pagen am St\u00fcck beteiligt ist. \u201eDie drei sterben, kommen in die H\u00f6lle und merken in dem Hotelzimmer, dass etwas fehlt.\u201d Denn es gibt gar keinen Folterknecht in Sartres H\u00f6lle, den sie vielleicht erwartet h\u00e4tten. Doch ist Sartres Adaption des Infernos deshalb weniger qu\u00e4lend? \u201eNein\u201c, meint Constantin, denn \u201eim Laufe des St\u00fccks kommt heraus, dass die drei sich gegenseitig qu\u00e4len, sie formen derartig toxische Beziehungen zueinander, dass sie f\u00fcr sich selbst die H\u00f6lle werden.\u201d Dies zeigt sich auch im ber\u00fchmtesten Geschlossene-Gesellschaft-Zitat aus Sartres Feder: \u201eDie H\u00f6lle, das sind die Anderen.\u201c <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jean-Paul Sartre wurde 1905 in Paris geboren. Er gilt als Vordenker und Hauptvertreter des Existentialismus und als Paradefigur der franz\u00f6sischen Intellektuellen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sartre schrieb zahlreiche Werke, darunter das Drama \u201eGeschlossene Gesellschaft\u201c (frz. \u201eHuis clos\u201c), welches 1944 uraufgef\u00fchrt wurde. Er sagte einmal, dass das St\u00fcck seinen Erfahrungen im Lager Stalag entsprang – dort war er in Kriegsgefangenschaft gewesen. Das dortige st\u00e4ndige Zusammensein und das Gef\u00fchl des st\u00e4ndigen Beobachtet-Werdens soll ihn dazu veranlasst haben, diese \u201eH\u00f6lle\u201d in einem Theaterst\u00fcck zu verarbeiten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Doch obwohl das St\u00fcck bereits vor 79 Jahren uraufgef\u00fchrt wurde, beh\u00e4lt es auch heute noch seine Aktualit\u00e4t. \u201eDas St\u00fcck ist absolut zeitlos\u201c, sagt Constantin. Auch in der heutigen Gesellschaft k\u00f6nnten \u00e4hnliche Dynamiken zwischen Menschen entstehen \u2013 \u201evielleicht sogar noch einmal verst\u00e4rkt durch das Internet. Man wird st\u00e4ndig gesehen und verurteilt, ist ein offenes Buch.\u201d Wir scheinen den drei Figuren im St\u00fcck also gar nicht mal so un\u00e4hnlich zu sein \u2013 abgesehen von den schrecklichen Taten nat\u00fcrlich, die die Protagonist:innen \u00fcberhaupt erst in die H\u00f6lle gebracht haben. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He once said that the play originated from his experiences in the Stalag camp, where he had been a prisoner of war. The constant togetherness there and the feeling of being constantly watched is said to have prompted him to process this „hell“ in a play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But although the play was first performed 79 years ago, it still retains its relevance today. „The play is absolutely timeless,“ says Constantin. Similar dynamics between people could also arise in today’s society – „perhaps even intensified by the internet. You’re constantly seen and judged, you’re an open book.“ So we don’t seem all that dissimilar to the three characters in the play – apart from the terrible deeds that brought the protagonists to hell in the first place, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
